dress:4it fashion show

I was fortunate enough to be offered the chance to design a t-shirt for a the dress:4it fashion show. This took place on 27th April at Brownes, Nottingham.

With all proceeds going to the homeless charity, Shelter, all the designers were asked to base their design around homes/houses/shelters. I decided to sketch a house as quickly as possible for the basis of my design. I then used illustrator to artwork the sketch before it being vinyl cut and printed on the shirt. The tshirts are now in Project Clothing, a store in Nottingham City Centre, available to buy, again with all proceeds going to Shelter.

It was a great project to be involved in and it was very satisfying seeing my design on a catwalk.

Another Show Reel

After Effects Show Reel

For research for my current ITV Big Country brief, I found this show reel on youtube which shows some basic after effects skills and techniques. As this is the avenue of the brief I am much more interested in I plan to do the title sequence, dependent on feedback of course. However, I have used after effects very briefly before and I am interested in, and would like to explore the depths of the software a little further.

End of Easter

Easter has come and gone in a blink of an eye now. After a chance to properly reflect on the 70 credit module, I am satisfied with my progress from last year. Mainly decision making and time management have improved.

I am going to collect all my work in a moment and in comparison to last years efforts, there is no competition. This years projects have a higher level or organisation, development and process which I hope will be enough for me to pass, this time around. It goes without saying that the few days before we get our results will be a very nervy time for me and anyone else repeating the year, not due to the quality of the work but because of our experiences 12 months ago.

Deadlines drawing closer

As Friday's deadline edges closer and closer I am pleased to report that I have 110% completed 4 projects now.

With just a few final self promotion bits and finishing off the 30sec animation with Tyler I am done. Reflecting back on the past 2 terms, I am pleased with the work I will be handing come 9:30am on Friday. Looking back in comparison to last years attempt, I have really put in a lot more effort and I think that can be seen in my work and hopefully my marks.

Hard drive woes

My hard drive is currently with PC World who I hope can either restore or transfer the data. Meanwhile I have made quite a lot of progress with my self promotion tonight.

I think I have finally chosen a final idea which I will now apply to all the literature I have already created.

Disaster

Everything seemed to be going fine. Only the motion project to finish along with tidying up my self promotion and illustration projects. 3 days to go. Perfect, more then enough time!

Just when I was getting ahead of myself, my hard-drive decides to die and doing so trapping my illustration and self promotion projects in a technological netherland! I am on my way to PC World now so hopefully rescue the files I desperately need!

Motion tutorial

After todays motion tutorial with Andy I am very upbeat about this project. The quick sample animation I did seems to be working well with the audio and just needs a little touching up now.

I plan to sketch out some slug emotions (try at least) to bring a little more character to the wee man.

Also, with the salt pot being the main focus of the animation, its prominence needs to be increased.

Watch this space!

Motion Graphics

I am working on this project with Tyler Button. Once the briefing was over we promptly drew up several rough story boards to match some audio we found.

We have now done an animatic of the storyboard and explored various potential visual styles. We now plan to draw up all the scenes which are to be animated in AfterEffects.

Our blog for this project can be found here.

Recent activity

Recently, over the last few weeks, along side ongoing projects I have been tying up loose ends on previous proejcts. With a couple of them now complete, with finals mounted and ready to be presented I can concentrate on my current projects.

I still have a couple of other projects that require completing but again, I will do this along side my current motion graphics project.

Motion Typography

I found both of these videos whilst researching motion typography. This is relation to the Bahookie project. The versatility of text, characters and letter forms allows a huge creative freedom as we can see in both of the videos, which are both incredibly unique.

Looking into the possibilities of motion typography is something I intend to spend time on.

Awesome skate board

When researching for the identity brief I stumbled across this wooden skate board. The grain design is etched into the wood and looks quite remarkable. It really stood out to me as an outstanding piece of design.

The grain or the use of the wood also relates to No Sweat as an ethical piece of design as it uses natural materials. Material is something that I should look at in detail.

Lack of Posts

I must apologise for a lack of posts.

The identity brief took up a lot of time which was dedicated to the sketch book rather then on screen. I promise to upload a bunch of images, research and development from that project in the near future.

Currently I am sat in an office in Phoenix, AZ working on an annual report for a local health services company. I am enjoying my experiences out here and will report back with more news!
